Peter

Peter M. Booth, BSc Hons. Geology and Environment, is a self-employed environmental consultant with over thirty years of nuclear industry experience. He has Associate status with a number of organisations including GeoEnergy Consult. 


Peter’s areas of specialisation include project management, training, stakeholder engagement, radioactive waste management, site characterisation, environmental remediation and knowledge management. His experience has been acquired both in the UK and internationally. 


In the UK he has supported projects on many of the key nuclear sites including Sellafield, Springfields, Capenhurst and the LLWR. His work also included a thirty months stint at the UK’s nuclear regulator where he coordinated their nuclear safety research program and provided support on land quality and waste management issues. 


Peter’s international experience has primarily been in support of European Commission and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) initiatives. Over the last twenty five years he has supported the IAEA extensively and this work has taken him to many Member States including USA, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Thailand, Romania, Ukraine, Brazil, Estonia and Japan. He has represented them at international conferences and has resided on the IAEA’s ENVIRONET Steering Committee for thirteen years, eight of these in the capacity of chair.
